Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana, has described the arraignment of Senator Dino Melaye in a stretcher as unacceptable in a civilised society.
In a press statement received by Channels Television on Thursday, Mr Falana said the action of the police violated the fundamental rights of the lawmaker.
Emerging reports indicate that the Federal Government has deployed a combined team of more security personnel to Benue state to address the increasing incidents of killings by suspected herdsmen. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Adamawa Command, says it has commenced intensive surveillance on major routes along the Nigeria-Cameroon border.
NDLEA said the move was a sequel to the Federal Government ban on the production and importation of codeine into the country.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.- Gen. Tukur Buratai, has warned officers and men of the Nigerian Army not to resort to social media to air their grievances or discuss operational strategies.
Buratai said such acts could be injurious to national security.

The reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) head office building is on fire are false, says the CBN acting Director, Corporate Communications, Mr Isaac Okorafor.
According to Okorafor, the rumour started when passersby saw a pall of exhaust from the CBN generator house and mistook it for fire.
“The CBN maintains a total security system that triggers safety alarms in the presence of smoke and so all fire engines and personnel received the alert only to discover that it was an unusual pall of exhaust.
