Residents of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja, particularly those around Maitama, Gwarinpa, Mpape were roused to an unprecedented earth shaking that left many confused on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Many residents while sharing their experiences expressed shock stating that they had never had such unusual forceful shaking of their homes and shops from a natural disaster since they began living in Abuja.

A bridge linking Jalingo and Wukari at Maraban Gassol in Taraba State has collapsed due to heavy rainfall experienced on Wednesday evening. The Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola revealed the incident in a statement signed by Mr Theodore Ogaziechi, Director of Information in the ministry in Abuja.

The Police Service Commission, PSC, has released details of successful candidates following its recruitment exercise into the rank of Constable.

President Buhari had in January, approved the recruitment of 6,000 constables into the Nigeria Police Force, with the PSC confirming last month that over 133,000 candidates had applied.

Details on the PSC website show that candiates were selected from the 36 states and the FCT.
