President Muhammadu Buhari on 19th January 2023, received a team from the Arab Bank for Economic Development (BADEA) led by its Director General, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele to the presidential villa.
This is Emefiele's second meeting with the President since he returned to the country on 12th January 2023, after he had left the country following the investigation of allegations against him by the Department of State Services (DSS) on financing corruption and terrorism. “You are welcome back. “I am grateful that you are well received,” Buhari told Emefiele during the meeting at the State House.

About three persons were left critically injured today when a twin bomb blast exploded at Rumuwoji playground during a rally of the All progressive congress, APC party in port Harcourt, Rivers state Capital. Amongst those who sustained injuries were two women and a man who were immediately rushed to hospital for emergency treatment. The APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Darlington Nwauju, confirmed the incident describing it as ‘unfortunate’ as police spokesperson, Iringe-Koko corroborated the APC statement.

The Edo State Government has confirmed the arrest of seven persons including two village chiefs in connection with the January 7 train attack which resulted in the kidnap of 20 passengers at the Igueben train station, in Edo Central.

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi has said that the inspector General of police, Usman Alkali Baba, cannot proceed on retirement while the country will be embarking on a general election. Dingyadi stated this to newsmen shortly after attending a Federal Executive Council, FEC meeting at the state House, Abuja. He stated this while making clarification on whether the IGP would proceed on retirement while he will clock the mandatory retirement age of 60yer by public officers on 1st march, 2023.

A Lagos-based lawyer by name Bolanle Raheem, who was allegedly shot dead on Christmas day by a policeman, ASP, Drambi Vandi has been laid to rest amidst tears. Colleagues, family member and friends congregated at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, for her funeral service, after which she was interred. Representatives of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), and neighbours paid tributes to her.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor, Godwin Emefiele, has been summoned by the Federal High Court in Abuja, to appear for a hearing on 18th January 2023, over a $53 million judgment debt arising from the Pars Club refunds. The order followed the application by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Joe Agi, against Linas International Ltd, the Minister of Finance, and the CBN through his lawyers, Isaac Ekpa and Chinonso Obasi, requesting an order directing the Inspector General of Police to arrest Emefiele and bring him to court alongside his lawyers: Damian Dodo, Audu Anuga, all Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and Ginika Ezeoke, Jessica Iyoke, Abdullahi Afolayan, and Olayemi Afolayan.
