The Kogi State High Court in Lokoja has ordered the arrest and remand of the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) Abdulrasheed Bawa, for disobedient to a court order, this judgment was delivered on 6th February, directing the Inspector-General of police to effect Bawa's arrest and remand in the Kuje correctional prison for the next 14 days until he purges himself of contempt. Justice R.O. Ayoola of the Kogi state high court granted the application for committal to prison of the anti-graft agency over disobedience to a court order.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) disclosed it has arrested 516 illegal immigrants in possession of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in Zaria LGA of Kaduna State. This disclosure was made on Friday by the NIS Comptroller, Kaduna State, Liman Kila, stating that the non-Nigerians were from Cameroon, Chad, Niger Republic, Senegal and Togo.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba on Wednesday launched the SmartForce Database Management System (DMS) to ensure the digitalization of personnel records and biometric capturing of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) personnel. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, adding that it is projected to ease administrative bottlenecks, issue Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Cards for identification of personnel, and assist in tracking transfers and postings.

In preparation for the 2023 general election, President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) should tighten security around the country’s borders. This was disclosed on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola during the inauguration ceremony of the Service’s Katsina state headquarters, adding that the primary duties of the Service are border control and migration management, not passport issuance.

The federal government through the office of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) has assured Russian investors of improved security for Russian investments, noting that the federal government is also solving bureaucratic challenges hindering Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) into the country. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NIDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, at a business forum organized by Nigeria in Diaspora Organization (NIDO), Russian chapter, said Nigeria remains the investment destination for FDIs, pointing out that there is nowhere in the world without challenges assuring Russian investors that bureaucratic challenges and insecurity are being tackled.
