The House of Representatives has demanded for tight security in and around airports across Nigeria for improved protection of lives and property of air passengers. The call followed the unanimous adoption of a motion of urgent public importance moved by a member, Jimoh OlaJide, at plenary on Tuesday. Presenting the motion, Olajide remembered the commotion caused by a passenger, identified as Obiajulu Uja on Friday aboard an Ibom Airplane, which caused panic among passengers and led to the delay of the flight.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Usman Baba Alkali along with his management team, paid a courtesy visit to a former IGP, Solomon Arase the newly appointed Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC). Both parties met on Monday in the PSC conference room at the Federal Secretariat, Abuja to discuss ways to enhance the mutual relationship between the NPF and PSC, as well as develop new strategies for stronger collaboration.

The Department of State Services (DSS) has warned some misguided politicians against their plot to install an interim government by conducting violent protests nationwide to cause the declaration of a state of emergency and also filing frivolous court injunctions to stall the inauguration ceremony scheduled for May 29th, 2023. This was made known on Wednesday in a statement issued by Peter Afunanya, the DSS, Public Relations Officer (PRO).

In the early hours of Tuesday, a section of the Onitsha Market in Anambra State was engulfed in an inferno that destroyed goods worth millions of naira. According to reports, the most affected block is a two-storey building housing the Onitsha main market Police Station and shops selling lace fabrics.

A deadly demonstration erupts in Lafia the Nasarawa State capital, on 20th March 2023 as the indigenes have taken to the streets to express their displeasure over the outcome of the just concluded Gubernatorial election in the state. Reports have it that one person has been reportedly killed, while some others were wounded with various degrees of injury after the demonstration became violent in various streets of the town. An eyewitness account stated that the protesters also engaged in acts of vandalism and destruction of public and private property.

The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has issued warnings to broadcast stations that air programmes capable of undermining peaceful co-existence will not hesitate to shut or revoke their licences. The commission then went on to state that any further breaches of the Nigeria Broadcasting Code and Act will no longer be tolerated.
