Following the Abuja terror alerts issued  last week by the United States (US) and other countries, the Federal Government (FG) on Monday assured Nigerians to continue their lawful activities because the county is secure and safe. This was made known on Monday by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd), immediately after the National Security Council emergency meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohammed Abubakar had yesterday dismissed a rumor that Nigeria may experience a food supply shortage in the incoming months and years when the drastic measure is not taken. The Minister was responding to questions from lawmakers yesterday during a budget defense of his ministry before the National Assembly. In a separate submission, some of the lawmakers expressed concern, especially in recent times as the flood is taking over most of the farmlands and villages in Nigeria.

President, Muhammadu Buhari, will today 31st October, 2022, hold an emergency meeting with security chiefs in Abuja. Mr. President, who was earlier scheduled to inaugurate the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) complex, summoned the meeting which is expected to review and strengthen the security network in the country. A statement by the Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu late Sunday night said the President has shelved the commissioning of the office complex of NASENI.

The State security service (SSS) confirmed the operation in Trademore Estate Abuja, but denied the statement linking them with US forces on the mission. This was confirmed in a statement by the Spokesperson of the secret police, Peter Afunanya.

Following the speculations on terrorist attacks already causing panic and unease across the nation's capital. the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba had released some emergency phone numbers to reach out to in a state of uncertainty for prompt action. The force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi disclose in a statement, that the police are working in collaboration with other security agencies, to ensure the safety of all citizens. More so, noting that the is no such imminent or impending attack on the FCT as stated by the United States. Although, he made it clear that security has been beefed up in all command and tactical formations.

The Attorney General of the federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami has revealed that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu cannot be released based on some issues surrounding his case despite the court ruling that he should be let off the hook and be paid compensation of 500million. Malami disclosed this yesterday in an interview with Vanguard that the interpretation of Kanu's judgment could not be used as the only bases to free him as he has other offenses committed by him against the federal government different from what was under consideration.
