A fire incident in Araromi spare parts market, Ibadan has depredated no fewer than 25 shops in the early hours of Saturday. General Manager(GM), of Oyo State Fire Service, Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka who confirmed the incident stated that the service got an emergency call about the incident around 2.30 a.m, and immediately deployed personnel to the place to dowse the incident.

The immediate past Director General of the Labour Party, LP, campaign organization, Mr. Doyin Okupe has been arrested by the Department of States Services, DSS operative at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. This was made known by one of the Okupe Lawyers, Mr. Tolu Babaleye while his client was on his way to London. According to Babaleye, the secret police after arresting Okupe demanded that he should furnish them with the Court process where he paid the fine option following his conviction by the High court last December in Abuja.

The National Industrial Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital in a judgment delivered by Justice Damulak has held that the provision of section 127 of the Police Act and Regulation 127 that is applicable to unmarried women police officers getting pregnant while in service but not applicable to unmarried male police officers impregnating females while in service, is discriminatory against the female officers. The above regulation is inconsistent with Section 42 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and Article 2 of the African Charter on Human and People's Rights which abolishes gender discrimination. President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, described the Boko Haram group and its attendant ideology which loathe western education as a "fraudulent plot" designed to destroy Nigeria. Buhari's comments came barely 48 hours after he alleged a "deliberate plot" to destroy the country, which failed.

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has cautioned that the current wave of insecurity if persists could lead to the cancellation or postponement of the forthcoming general election. The electoral umpire has lamented that the development if not nipped in the bud could hinder the declaration of the election result and that would amount to constitutional crises in the country. The statement was made yesterday in Abuja by the Chairman, Board of Electoral Institute TEI, INEC’s training arm, professor Abdullahi Abdu Zuru during the validation of election security training resources.

Bandits have abducted many passengers from a train station in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, who were waiting to board a train to Warri in Delta State . According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Edo, Chidi Nwabuzor, who confirmed the incident, it is unclear if anyone was killed in the incident but some travellers sustained bullet wounds.
