President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding his first security meeting with service Chiefs of the country at the state house, Abuja. Tinibu who arrived at the state house this morning at about 10:53 am went straight into a closed-door meeting with his service chiefs. The service chiefs present a the meeting are; Lucky Irabor, chief of defense staff; Farouk Yahaya, chief of army staff; Awwal Gambo, chief of air staff, and Isiaka Amao, chief of naval staff. 

The Nigerian secret police the DSS, has dispelled circulating reports alleging that its personnel prevented officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), from gaining access to their office in Ikoyi, Lagos. The reports claimed that both agencies have been on ongoing rivalry over ownership of the building.

As world today marks Children’s Day, President Muhammadu Buhari has called on parents to treat their children with dignity while not compromising their discipline. Buhari made this known through a statement from his media aid, Femi Adesina in Abuja as the world celebrates Children’s Day. The statement partly reads; “Every child is special and should be specially treated with dignity. “At the twilight of this administration, we are thankful for all the support we have received from parents, government officials, development partners, professionals, and religious leaders in realizing some of our targets.” 

The Department Of States Services has revealed that a plan is underway by some unscrupulous elements to disrupt the Inauguration and handover ceremony in the country. According to the Service, these people are planning to undermine the efforts of the security and intelligence agencies and also cause panic among Nigerian citizens. The spokesperson of the service, Peter Afunanya said the citizens to adhere to the rules and regulations (protocols) for the events across Nigeria.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen, Leo Irabor, yesterday, said that Nigerian government spent $8 billion to restore peace in Liberia. He disclosed this while delivering his keynote remark at an event to mark the 75th-year celebration of the United Nations peacekeeping operations on Wednesday. “Since the first engagement of troops of our Armed Forces in the Congo in 1960, Nigeria has been unequivocally committed to the principles and objectives of the United Nations. It has significantly contributed to 41 peacekeeping operations worldwide.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor, has reassured Nigerians of the military’s commitment ti the growth of Democracy in the Country. Irabor gave the assurance at the Regimental Dinner organized in honour of President Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday night in Abuja as part of the activities lined up for the May 29 inauguration ceremony. He added that the military in collaboration with other security agencies would stop at nothing to ensure the country was adequately secured as part of its effort to contribute to the development of the country.
