Armed bandits on Sunday night, invaded and killed many people in Tsafe town, Zamfara state. According to residents, the bandits who stormed the area, which is the headquarters of Tsafe Local Government Area of the state about 9.30 pm, murdered the son of the state’s commissioner for security affairs and a retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Mamman Tsafe.
They said the attack was a reprisal following the killing of a man on Saturday by a local vigilante known as ‘Yan Sa kai’ in Tsafe.
The state police spokesperson, Muhammad Shehu, did not respond to calls for comment about the attack when contacted on Sunday night.
Following the attack many residents have fled the community.
