The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reacted to a viral video alleging it arrested Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court of Nigeria in Abuja, stating the report is false.
This was clarified in a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesman, John Odey.
The statement said, “The commission wishes to clarify that it has neither arrested nor invited Justice James Omotosho in relation to any investigation. The commission is also not investigating the honorable judge as alleged in the video.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the ICPC has no mandate to investigate serving judicial officers. The commission has very high regard not only for the honorable Justice James Omotosho but for all judicial officers in Nigeria.
The ICPC restated its dedication to professionalism and due process and advised the public to listen to official communication by the agency, instead of relying on information circulating on social media.
