The Senate has on Tuesday approved the establishment of six new additional campuses of the Nigerian Law School across the six geo-political zones of the country. The newly approved law schools in addition to the seven existing ones will bring the total number of law schools in the country to 13, excluding the Bwari campus in the Federal Capital Territory. The approval followed consideration of Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who also serves as leader of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters on the Legal Education Act (Amendment) Bill, 2021.

The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities, ASUU has revealed that the union may embark on an indefinite industrial action soon as it declared Monday, February 7th as a lecture-free day to sensitize stakeholders for the strike. The national president of the Union, Professor Emmanuel Osedeke made this known to the General public after ASUU general meeting. Accordingly, Vigil360 stumbled on some circulars issued in respect of the impending strike noted that the lecture-free day would be an avenue to sensitize stakeholders and the general public that failure of government to honor its own side of the agreement they signed in December 2020 with ASUU, the union is left with no option than to embark on industrial action.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it will embark on an indefinite strike to press home their demands one month after it suspended a nine-month-old strike. Dr. Lazarus Maigoro, Chairman ASUU, University of Jos Chapter made the disclosure in a statement on Friday, expressing the union's doubt in the ability of the federal government to resolve the lingering conflict with tertiary institutions. The statement reads:

Chancellor of Veritas University, Bwari, Abuja, Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama has lamented the present security situation in the country. He lamented that attacks by bandits and other criminal elements on educational institutions have not affected students alone but also the survival of private universities. Kaigama spoke at the 10th convocation ceremony of Veritas University, Bwari, Abuja, on Saturday. At the convocation, the university awarded various classes of degrees to no fewer than 331 students.
