Security operatives have foiled an attack by suspected bandits in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State. Acting on credible intelligence from the Department of State Services, DSS in Danmusa, security forces stormed Maijele Mountain, where the criminal elements had gathered for their notorious activities. The police spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a statement on Sunday, said an intelligence report from the DSS had indicated that a group of armed bandits had gathered at Maijele Mountain, preparing to launch an attack.
“Upon receipt of the information, promptly, a joint team of police operatives and members of the KSCWC led by the DPO Danmusa stormed the mountain where the suspected armed bandits were assembling, one of the bandits was killed, while others escaped with gunshot wounds”. Aliyu said.
“A fierce gun duel ensued, resulting in the neutralization of one of the armed bandits due to the superior tactics and firepower of the operatives, as several others escaped with various degrees of injuries,” he added.
It was also gathered that there was a fierce gun battle, which resulted in frustrating one of the suspected bandits, while others fled with various degrees of gunshot wounds.
It was also reported that the security operatives recovered some ammunition, including one AK-47 rifle with three rounds of ammunition, an unregistered Boxer motorcycle, 50 wraps of suspected Indian hemp, 32 bottles of soft drinks, a cutlass, and dangerous drugs.
The police commended gallantry and bravery efforts of the operatives for crushing criminal elements, while advising the public to remain vigilant and provide timely intelligence to security agencies.
