The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through credible intelligence and a precision air operation, neutralized bandits and destroyed an improvised explosive device (IED) factory in Zamfara State. Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Nigerian Air Force's Director of Public Relations and Information, stated in a statement that the NAF, working under the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma, Sector 2, achieved a significant operational victory in its persistent campaign against armed banditry.
He claims that the success came after two high-impact precision air interdiction missions were carried out on December 28, 2025, at Turba Hill and Kachalla Dogo Sule's Camp, both of which are situated in Zamfara State's Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to Ejodame, NAF aviation assets were used to target bandit enclaves at the two locations based on reliable multi-source intelligence.
Turba Hill, a known bandit hideaway, was the target of the initial attack. Significant human activity had been discovered at the location by ongoing intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations. Additionally, an operable zinc-roofed structure was determined to be essential to the enclave's operations.“ Following positive identification, the target was precisely engaged, resulting in a direct hit.
The structure was completely destroyed, and multiple bandits were neutralized, according to a post-strike battle damage assessment. Kachalla Dogo Sule's Camp, a known bandit stronghold that has been recognized as a crucial hub for IED fabrication and operations, was the site of the second air interdiction mission.
According to intelligence assessments, the camp was involved in the preparation and carrying out of recent IED assaults in the Dan Sadau–Magami axis. Several of the enclave's active structures were successfully targeted by the precise strike, which set off fierce fires that destroyed the buildings and killed a number of bandits. This essentially made it impossible for the organization to produce and use homemade explosives.
According to Ejodame, "These decisive airstrikes represent a significant degradation of bandit networks operating in Zamfara State, particularly their ability to manufacture and employ IEDs."
In close coordination with other elements of Operation Fansan Yamma, he continued, the operations reaffirm the Nigerian Air Force's unwavering commitment to deny criminal elements safe havens, reduce their combat effectiveness, and support ongoing joint efforts to restore lasting peace and security throughout the Northwest and the nation at large.
