The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) is set to commence a ten day maintenance operation on its major substation in Gombe state. The company disclosed that the exercise is a preventive routine maintenance work which aims at enhancing the stability of power supply and efficiency of transmission network in the North-East region.
TCN stated that during the exercise, some specific feeders will be shut down while critical control and protection panels will be replaced, noting that the process may temporarily affect electricity supply in some parts of Gombe State. Therefore, they appealed for understanding and cooperation from residents and business owners, emphasizing that the operation is imperative for improved, efficient and reliable services within Gombe State and its environs.
This development was made known in a statement issued on Tuesday by TCN spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, stating that the maintenance will run from October 14 to 24, 2025, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily, at the Gombe 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
“The planned maintenance will enable our engineers to carry out replacement of protection and control panels on the Shongo 33kV Feeder 8,” the company stated.
TCN, however, clarified that the Jos Electricity Distribution Company would continue to receive bulk power during the exercise.
“To minimise inconvenience, load from the Shongo 33kV feeder will be transferred to the Darazo 33kV feeder, while that of Mallam Sidi will be moved to the Doma 33kV feeder,” Mbah added, “Preventive maintenance remains a key part of our operations” while assuring residents that the company has emplaced measures to reduce the impact of the exercise on power supply.
