The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced free business name registration for 3,500 small businesses across the country.

This was disclosed by the Registrar-General of the Commission, Hussaini Magaji, stating that the initiative was to reduce the cost of business formalization for micro and small enterprises and the decision was made to mark the 35 years since the Commission was established.

He also stated that the free registration was to encourage more small businesses to formalize their operations to enable them to gain access to government services and other benefits.

Furthermore, he stated that the Commission would sign a letter of collaboration with Google to strengthen its digital infrastructure and service delivery.

Magaji also announced the launch of a redesigned CAC website with new digital tools such as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) lawyer and a business name generator.

He said the AI lawyer would provide prompt guidance on CAC laws and processes.
