President Bola Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates, which was disclosed on Thursday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu posted Colonel Lateef Are (Rtd.) as the ambassador-designate to the United States of America (USA), while Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, former ambassador to South Korea, was posted as the high commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom (UK).
Ambassador Ayodele Oke is the ambassador-designate to France, and a former governor of Kebbi State, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, is the ambassador-designate to Turkey.
Furthermore, in a memo addressed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu urged the ministry to inform the governments of the four countries about the ambassador-designates, in line with diplomatic procedures.
These four ambassador-designates are out of the 68 confirmed by the Senate last December.
Recall that the Senate also confirmed other non-career ambassadorial nominees such as a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu; former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode; former Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu; a former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, amongst others.
