The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on coronavirus has threatened to sanction international travelers who upon return failed to turn up for a mandatory Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test.
The Chairman of the PTF, Boss Mustapha made the statement during a media briefing today in Abuja.
The SGF said that going by the attitude of the travelers, there is a need to reinforce the sanction which includes the suspension of a passport of the defaulting individuals for a period of up to six months or outright visa cancellation.
Earlier, the health committee had warned that all travelers coming into Nigeria from any part of the world should ensure to take a PCR test result with them and make sure is negative.
Similarly, they said travelers should stay in isolation for a period of seven days before mingling and taking another test in Nigeria on day seven.
However, he said he was alarmed by how travelers have chosen to defy such critical instruction of presenting themselves for such tests after arrival which has already being paid for by them before the arrival.
He, therefore, stated that henceforth, his office has resolved to revoke the passport of individuals who refused to comply with the mandatory PCR test.
