Bauchi state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has tested positive for coronavirus.
This was contained in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media; Mukhtar Gidado that out of the six tests carried out by Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) confirmed the governor positive for the dreaded virus.
His statement which partly reads;
“Of the six initial tests carried out, one sample was confirmed positive of COVID-19, the positive result happened to be of His Excellency Senator Bala Abdukadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi state.”
He further explained, “At this point, it should be noted that the governor is in self-isolation as his doctors and officials from Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) have taken full charge of his quarantine.”
The statement further solicited that the Governor needs our prayer at this trying time from all well-meaning Nigerians, while urging those with a similar incident of contact with the COVID-19 victim to go for a test to ascertain their status.
The Governor who embarked on self-isolation after having contact with the Atiku Abubakar’s son who was confirmed positive for the COVID-19.
Earlier, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported that the son of the former vice president, Mohammed Atiku Abubakar was tested positive for the dreaded virus after his return from a trip through Lagos International Airport.
Recalled that the Governor who also recently returned from an official trip in Lagos met with Mohammed Atiku Abubakar in the Aero Contractors aircraft where they shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.
Meanwhile, the governor did not exhibit any symptom of the disease, but he is in stable condition
