The Federal government has opened up on why the identity of the Italian confirmed with the case of coronavirus cannot be disclosed, saying it’s against medical confidentiality to reveal the identity of a patient without his consent.
The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire stated this yesterday when he granted audience to newsmen shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the statehouse, saying his case was different from the Liberian, Patrick Sawyer who had an index of Ebola, his identity become open because he died.
Meanwhile, the identity of the Italian who was tested positive of the coronavirus on February 26 cannot be disclosed due to professional ethics.
Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, earlier disclosed the cure for the coronavirus has been discovered by Prof. Maurice Iwu, saying the discovery was propelled by the bounty the Federal Government placed on any person that discovered the cure for Lassa fever and COVID19 will be handsomely rewarded.
The Minister disclosed the American government who were interested in the invention had already entered into an agreement with Iwu to ascertain the veracity of his claim before the reward.
He said with the involvement of Health minister and the president of the Academy of Science, three more inventions which had been received would be further subjected to scrutiny.
Onu said the solar-powered machine that would make it possible to conduct all elections in one day has also been invented.
He revealed the machine is paperless and with a highly calibrated security system that makes it fortified from intrusion.
In his statement, “As soon as data comes into it, it transmits it.
Basically, you’ll have a system that will be addressing many of the problems that we have today in the conduct of our elections.
We have gone to INEC on this to set up a committee.
We also table this before the National Economic Council and we are still working to further improve on the system,”.
