The Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria (SOFPON) says it will inaugurate a mobile web apps “Kompletecare” to enhance timely access to medical care and health facilities. Dr Oluwagbenga Ogunfowokan, SOFPON Chairman, FCT Chapter, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja.
He disclosed that the app would be inaugurated on Saturday, May 19 to commemorate the World Family Physicians Day.
NAN reports that the World Family Doctors Day, which is an annual event, is commemorated on May 19 worldwide with it 2018 theme: “Family physicians-Leading the way to better health.”
Ogunfowokan, who frowned at the number of people that were denied access to medical care, especially at the public health facilities as a result of long queues, however, noted that such denial contributes to their deteriorating ill health.
He said that the society has decided to rise up to the occasion and bridge the gap by introducing the web app to put an end to such challenges in hospitals and boost the health of the populace.
The chairman explained that as soon as you log on to the site through the phone, tablets or any other internet gadget and lodge your complaint, doctors would be readily available to attend to you.
According to him, SOFPON will launch a mobile web application known as Kompletecare that can be use by patients all over the world to have access to doctors anytime, any day and anywhere.
“The mobile web application solutions will reduce to the barest minimum the time patients spend waiting for doctor in our clinics.
“It will allow patients to be able to have remote access to doctors using video and audio online consultations.
“Also, through this medium some patients that may need home best care services will be able to access doctors to give them such care using the web and mobile applications,” said Ogunfowokan.
The chairman, who described the country as having multi-faceted challenges in health care delivery, noted that such challenges had led the populace patronizing quacks unknowingly.
The physician noted that the concept of the mobile app was a reflection that family physicians were leading the way to better health of patients by improving their access to doctors, reducing waiting time in clinics, providing home base care when necessary.
According to him, this will further go a long way in providing patients, doctors and hospitals satisfaction thereby improving the internally generated revenue of hospitals
Ogunfowokan said the day was set aside by the World Organisation of Family Doctors (WONCA) in 2010 to remember the impact of family physicians in providing excellent, quality services to patients irrespective of their age, gender, tribe, and religion or disease entity.
