According to reports, legendary musician Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80 after a brief battle with cancer, which was announced on Instagram by her nephew, Bryan Seaver.
He said, “This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.
“It is an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus.”
Parton was regarded as one of country music’s most celebrated singer-songwriters, with more than 3,000 songs, 11 Grammy Awards and a career spanning more than 60 years.
She became known as the “Queen of Country” with music hits such as “I Will Always Love You”, “Jolene” and “9 to 5”.
She was a philanthropist, promoted childhood literacy, and also supported medical research by donating $1 million towards COVID-19 vaccine research.
