Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola, popularly known as Fryo, has clinched the gubernatorial ticket for the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State for the 2026 election.
The party’s electoral committee, led by Humphery Abba, announced that Adedamola secured 919 votes from the 957 accredited delegates in the primary election.
“There were 20 void votes out of the 957 accredited votes. Adebayo got 919 votes and is hereby returned as the governorship candidate of the PDP.” Abba stated.
He added that the committee had earlier notified delegates that the other contender, Ademola Adeleke, had exited the party before the primaries began. Consequently, Adedamola became the lone aspirant in the PDP governorship race.
With this win, Adedamola will now fly the PDP flag in the 2026 Osun gubernatorial election, amid notable political shifts within the party.
