The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, administered the oath of office to five newly appointed permanent secretaries, including Dr. John Chidiebere Ezeamama (Imo State), Ibrahim Abdulkarim Ozi (Nasarawa State), and Dr Abdul Sule Usman Garba (North Central), Dr Ishiyaku Musa Mohammed (North East), and Dr Binyerem Chigbonwu Ukaire (South East).
He also swore in Dr. Aminu Yusuf as the Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), together with two other board members: Dr. Joseph Haruna Kigbu and Tonga Betara Bulatafa.
Dr. Ezeamama, aged 54, earned his MBBS from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and also holds an MBA. He commenced his career as a medical officer in the Federal Civil Service and pursued his professional advancement through training at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists in London and the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
The 57-year-old Ibrahim Ozi graduated from Bayero University, Kano, in 1991, holding a degree in Accounting. Shortly after graduation, he joined the Federal Civil Service, where he advanced steadily in his career until he became a Director in the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation. He has served as Permanent Secretary representing the Federal Capital Territory and Director of the Inspectorate Department within the same office.
Dr. Garba, aged 56, is a Primary Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, bagged his MBBS in 1997 from the University of Jos, and is also a participant in Course 46 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS), Kuru. In 1999, he began his career as a medical officer in the Federal Civil Service and rose to the rank of Director in 2019.
The 57- year- old, Dr. Mohammed, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in 1992 and was awarded a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. In 2014, he further obtained a Master's Degree in Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine. His journey in the Federal Civil Service started in 2009 as an Assistant Director, and in 2022, he was promoted to Director.
Dr. Yusuf, aged 65, who serves as Chairman of NPC, obtained both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from ABU, Zaria, in Biology and International Affairs and Diplomacy (MIAD), respectively. He further earned a PhD in International Relations from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.
