The Super Eagles will be flying straight from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to their base in Garoua, in the North region of Cameroon for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Eagles are drawn in a seemingly Tough Group D along with seven-time record winners Egypt as well as Sudan and Guinea-Bissau with the Super Eagles opening their account on January 9 against the Pharaohs at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua. But speaking in Lagos yesterday, NFF President Amaju Pinnick, said the federation had sorted some of the traveling logistics, especially flight’s landing rights.

Amidst calls to suspend all matches due to the surge of the Omicron Varian of the COVID-19, the Premier League has insisted that it want to continue where safety is possible. Because of the spike of the Omicron variant, England's top flights have had most of their games called off. It was revealed that the Manchester United game against Brighton scheduled to hold on Saturday at Old-Trafford has been suspended. The Red Devils have also suspended their trip to Brentford slated for Tuesday prior to the game.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced in a statement the termination of Gernot Rohr’s contract as the head coach of the Super Eagles. The football body subsequently announced that the current Technical Director of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen would serve as Interim Technical Adviser. The statement reads, “This is with immediate effect, and follows the termination of the relationship with Franco-German Gernot Rohr, who has been in charge of the three-time African champions for the past 64 months, and is Nigeria’s longest-serving manager.
