International and currently Africa’s leading bookmaker 1xBet has bagged the sponsorship rights of the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON), which will take place between 9th January – 6th February 2022 in Cameroon. The tournament was initially scheduled for 2021 before being postponed due to the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic which caused a lot of shift of events across the globe.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced on Wednesday that former Coach of Porto FC, Jose Peseiro is the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria. The Portuguese would replace Gernot Rohr who was sacked as the Super Eagles head coach on December 12, 2021. This was announced in a communiqué released by NFF on Wednesday.

Crystal Palace manager and former Arsenal captain, Patrick Vieira, said that there needs to be more respect when discussing the Africa Cup of Nations. With the Africa Cup of Nations set to start in less than one month, on January 9, 2022, several rumors surged suggesting that the tournament might be postponed or even canceled.

The Super Eagles will be flying straight from the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja to their base in Garoua, in the North region of Cameroon for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations. The Eagles are drawn in a seemingly Tough Group D along with seven-time record winners Egypt as well as Sudan and Guinea-Bissau with the Super Eagles opening their account on January 9 against the Pharaohs at the Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua. But speaking in Lagos yesterday, NFF President Amaju Pinnick, said the federation had sorted some of the traveling logistics, especially flight’s landing rights.
