Nigeria’s Amaju Pinnick has emerged as one of the Vice Presidents of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), at the ongoing 43rd Ordinary General Assembly taking place in Rabat, Morocco after a landslide victory. Pinnick defeated Malawian FA president Walter Nyamilandu by 43 votes to eight during the CAF General Assembly held on Friday. The Nigeria Football boss is now the fifth Vice President in the new arrangement by the continent’s football governing body who hitherto had only three vice presidents. After Friday’s poll, the trio of Augustine Senghor (Senegal), Ahmed Yahaya, (Mauritania), Souleiman Waberi (Morocco) who all stepped down for Patrice Motsepe to emerge as President were returned as Vice Presidents in that order.

Joan Laporta has been elected the new president of F.C Barcelona after emerging victorious ahead of rival candidates Victor Font and Toni Freixa. The club disclosed the result of the election on Sunday night, with Laporta who was at the helm between 2003 and 2010 winning with 30,184 votes and Font coming in second and Freixa third with 16,679 and 4,769 votes, respectively.
