Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in the 2023 general elections, Peter Gregory Obi, has congratulated Nigerian football stars Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala for emerging CAF’s Men and Women Footballer of the Year, respectively, yesterday night in Morocco where the award was presented.. The talented Osimhen triumphed over Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah to win the coveted trophy during the CAF 2023 Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday night. 

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has been crowned the Italian Footballer’s Association (AIC) footballer of the year for his outstanding performance with the Neapolitans last season. The AIC awards, which began in 1968 include several notables’ accolades which comprises the team of the year, coach of the year, club of the year, and goal of the season among others.

18-year-old Kano Pillars’ winger, Yusuf Abdullahi's five goals were enough for  Kano Pillars to see out the threat of Gombe united in a 7-goal thriller.  Pillars who was playing away defeated the home team 5-2 to secure maximum points and move to 7th on the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) table while Gombe United dropped to 16th.
