French International footballer, Karim Benzema has called it a quit with Real Madrid. A popular Journalist, Fabrizio Romano, twitted on his official Twitter handle confirming Benzema’s walking away from the Spanish club after spending 14yrs with them. According to AFP reports, the 35yrs professional signed a deal ending his carrier with Real Madrid today. There were speculations that the professional forward has gotten himself a better deal in Saudi Arabia where he is planning to move.
Los Blancos in a statement said, “Real Madrid and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to put an end to his brilliant and unforgettable era as a player at our club.”
“Madrid wants to show their gratitude and all their love to someone who is one of our greatest legends.”
The announcement comes shortly after its coach Carlos Ancelotti said yesterday that there was “no doubt” about Benzema’s future at Madrid’ as he has only one year contract with the club.
Though Benzema himself has cautioned his fans that “Not everything you see on the internet is true” shortly after a report filtered about his departure to Saudi Arabia after the forward joined Madrid in 2009 Ligue 1 Lyon.
Benzema has struggled to write his name in the sand of time at Madrid's history book alongside, Cristiano Ronaldo and Garth Bale, Attacking trident before upgrading himself to become the team leader when the Portuguese striker left in 20018.
Benzema has won 24 trophies for Real Madrid including five Champions League, four La Liga titles, and three Copas Del Rey, and currently, he is the holder of the Ballon D’ Or for the world's best player.
He has remained the Madrid second-best goal scorer of all time, with 353 goals for Madrid, behind only Ronaldo who has a record of 450 goals.
Later today he will play his final appearance for the club when his club is hosting Athletic Bilbao in La Liga at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Madrid will be least with open space in its attack as it has confirmed that this summer others like Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio, and Mariano Diaz are all leaving.
Ancelotti avoided talking about his move to buy Harry Kane of Tottenham of England as his club has penciled Kane for the Madrid movement.
