Chelsea Football Club will on Sunday (today) be without right-back, Reece James, when they take on Arsenal in a Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium, due to an ankle injury.
The Blues Manager, Frank Lampard, confirmed the development during his pre-match press conference on Saturday.
Chelsea head to the game following a 2-0 defeat to Southampton at Stanford Bridge in their last Premier League encounter.
Football London quoted Lampard as saying
“Marcos Alonso got a small muscle injury. Hopefully, he’ll be OK for Arsenal but Reece James probably won’t. He got an ankle injury and we need to look at it. It’s probably going to be a bit longer.”
The kick-off time for the match is 3pm.
Speaking on DAVID Luiz's move from Chelsea to Arsenal, Lampard said he will ‘always respect’ the Brazilian, adding that his switch to Arsenal was purely a football decision.
“There are decisions you have to make and it was just a decision that was made,” Lampard told Chelsea’s official website.
“While I’m here, I’ll be making countless more of those in different ways so that’s just what it is. I don’t want to talk too much going into a game against a player [David Luiz] who I respect and played with.
“If you look at our defenders and the emergence of [Fikayo] Tomori, that’s obviously been a big plus for us but I certainly wished David well when he left.
“He was part of a Champions League-winning team, he played with half a hamstring in that final and he got himself fit when he was under pressure with the injury so I will always respect that.”
