Former Coach of Enyimba Football Club, Samson Unuanel yesterday sued the club to court over an alleged N3.450 million debt. The suit which was brought before Justice Kiyersohot Damulak of the Nation Industrial Court, Abuja alleged that the club owed Unuanel balance of his sign-on-fee.

He also seeks an order for payment of N100 million as general damages and additional N10 million for the cost of prosecuting the suit.

In his statement, the former coach said he was employed as Chief Coach by the defendant for the 2009/2010 football season with sign-on-fee of N5.5 million. He was paid a total of N2.050 million at the end of his contract.
He said he approached the court to seek redress after the club failed to pay the remaining N3.450 million.

In the defendant's statement, the counsel, Mr. Chidike Iheukwumere demanded the matter to be transferred to the Owerri Division of the Industrial Court as he also raised an issue bordering on lack of jurisdiction of the court.

However, Justice Damulak objected saying he lacked the power the matter as the case was assigned by the president of the court.

Meanwhile, the judge adjourned the matter to June 6 for hearing.
