According to Cadena SER report, the Barcelona captain, Lionel Messi, will not be tied to his £632 million release clause, as the clause has since been expired during the end of last season. Messi pushed for his transfer last week to his club with the hope that his deal would be terminated.
The Captain move has been blocked by the Barca Chief, saying Messi had the privilege then but has expired last June when the 2019/2020 season was initially scheduled to end.
However, fresh claims emanating indicate that the £632m release clause has since expired in the June campaign.
Therefore going by the position of the Barca chief, there is no longer a buy-out clause in Messi’s contract.
The news will come as a major boost to clubs keen on taking Messi from the Camp Nou.
Manchester City is leading the race to sign the 33-year-old, while Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are also interested.
