Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel who is currently with the Super Eagles for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Egypt has joined Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor on a two-year deal as a free agent.
Mikel who left Middlesbrough at the end of the 2018-19 season after the completion of his short-term deal is now set for a new challenge in the Turkish top-flight.
The club who finished in fourth place last season will also be competing in the Europa League next season.
"A two-year and an additional year agreement was signed with the free captain of the Nigerian national team, John Obi Mikel, to transfer to our club," the club announced.
