MFM FC put behind them the disappointment of last Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup defeat to Djoliba of Mali by edging out Nasarawa United 2-1 in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League match 13 fixture at the Agege Stadium on Wednesday.
The hosts were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute after Chimeze Martins hacked down Waheed Adebayo in the box.
Zinte Udeh took up the challenge and coolly slotted the ball into the net.
Left-back Julius Emiloju doubled the advantage two minutes later.
The visitors reduced the deficit 15 minutes from the end through Ikechukwu Mwani who guided Victor Okoro’s inch perfect cross past Abayomi Folarin.
They were however unable to find the equalising goal and will return to Lafia empty handed.
In another rescheduled match day 13 encounter, Rivers United beat Akwa United 2-0 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Emeka Ogbuh (penalty) and Malachy Ohawume got the goals for Stanley Eguma’s men.
