South Africa’s Bafana Bafana landed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom Thursday afternoon ahead of Saturday’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria’s Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
The AFCON 1996 champions had their first training session in the evening at the practice pitch of the magnificent Akwa Ibom Stadium.
Stuart Baxter’s men arrived Uyo around midday aboard Air Peace 4P7338 flight from Lagos and checked in at Le Meridien Ibom Hotel & Golf Resort.
The 25-man team is captained by Kaizer Chiefs’ goal keeper, Itumeleng Khune who has vowed an upset against the Super Eagles.
The South Africans are yet to beat their Nigerian opponents in official matches, with their only win coming in an international friendly 13 years ago incidentally while the visitors were managed by current coach, Stuart Baxter.
