The House of Representatives has issued warning against erring estate developers that flout any rule or encroach on prohibited areas in the FCT, Abuja, stressing that it will not hesitate to involve all relevant authorities against them. The Chairman, House Ad-Hoc Committee on the Investigation of Operations of Real Estate Developers in the FCT, Blessing Onuh (APC, Benue) said this when members of the committee visited various sites in Abuja on Thursday. According to Onuh, they have discovered various infractions by the developers like building without relevant authorization from the government, encroaching on prohibited areas, taking over government lands designated for special purposes as well as failure to deliver to their subscribers.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three trans-border drug traffickers while they were trying to smuggle 48,000 tablets of 225mg Tramadol through Mubi, Adamawa State, to Cameroon Republic. The NDLEA also said over 1,500 kilograms of imported Loud and other illicit substances have been intercepted in raids across Lagos and Edo states. Director, Media, and Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
The Lagos State Government has announced the indefinite suspension of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) at Eyin Eyo, Church Street, and Idumota Bridge on the state island. This was revealed by the Special Adviser to the State Governor on Transportation, Oluwatoyin Fayinka, during a stakeholder meeting at Alausa with NURTW, Central Busines District, CBD, and Lagos State Market Women Association (Iya Oloja General and Iya Oloja of Lagos Island).
The Kano State Government has suspended the operational license of all private schools in the state, following kidnap and subsequent murder of five-year old school pupil, Hanifa Abubakar, by her teacher, Abdulmalik Tanko. The development provoked nationwide outrage with many calling for the suspect’s execution. The state’s Commissioner for Education, Sanusi Kiru, announced the suspension in a press conference on Monday. On the suspension of the operational licences for private schools, Mr Kiru said the government will set up a special committee for guidance on the next line of action.
