A former deputy governor of Nasarawa State, Prof. Onje Gye-Wado has been released after he was kidnapped on Thursday by gunmen at his country home in Rinza village, Wamba Local Government Area of the state. This development was confirmed on Monday by Nasarawa State, Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramham Nansel.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP) has announced it has arrested some cultists, who are members of a sextortion syndicate operating in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This was disclosed on Tuesday in a statement issued by the Director-General (DG) of NAPTIP, Fatima Waziri-Azi, stating that the response by the Agency was a result of several complaints from victims and stakeholders.

According to reports, on Monday, bandits abducted more than 10 students of Government Secondary School, Awon, a day school located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday granted bail to a detained journalist, Agba Jalingo to the tune of N500,000, with one surety in like sum. The presiding judge, Zainab Abubakar stated that the surety must own a landed property within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the title deed of the said property must be submitted to the Deputy Registrar in charge of litigations. The case was adjourned till May 31 for trial and Jalingo is expected to remain in prison custody, pending the perfection of his bail conditions which was filed by his team of lawyers, led by Femi Falana (SAN).

Nigerian Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife Beatrice, and Doctor Obinna Obeta have been found guilty and convicted of organ trafficking in the United Kingdom. The trio was found culpable of violating the Modern Slavery Act by facilitating the travel of a young man to Britain with the aim of exploitation after a six-week trial at the Old Bailey. As reported, the accused were said to have criminally conspired to bring the 21 years old Lagos base to London just to exploit his kidney as stated by the jury. The judge, Justice Jeremy Johnson, will pass a sentence at a later date, The Guardian UK reports.
