President Muhammadu Buhari has terminated the appointment of the embattled Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman. The termination of appointment was disclosed in an affidavit filed at the Federal High Court in Lagos in a suit brought against President Buhari by the Chief Executive Officer of Maritime Media Limited, Asu Beks, and two others. The suit was brought before Justice Tujjani Ringim of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Police operatives in Kaduna have rescued two more kidnapped students of Bethel Baptist High School in Chikun Local Government Area of the state. According to reports, the students were rescued on Wednesday in Rijanna area along the Kaduna Abuja highway. Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command, ASP Mohammed Jalige said the students were taken to a police medical facility for medical attention. 118 of the students still remain in captivity. The bandits have reportedly demanded a N60 million ransom to release the students.

A former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, and a Director at the Headquarters, Major General Hassan Ahmed has been killed in Abaji by suspected Bandits, Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed the death.
Also, the assailants kidnapped his sister, Safina Ahmed.

The ECOWAS court of justice in Abuja has on Friday ordered the Federal Government to pay journalist and Publisher of CrossRiverWatch, Agba Jalingo N30 million as compensation for “ill-treating and torturing him while in detention in Cross River State.” The judgment was following a suit brought by the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) against the federal government and Cross River State government over prolonged, arbitrary detention, unfair persecution, and sham trial of Jalingo.
