The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has detained popular singer and songwriter, D’banj over the alleged diversion of an unspecified amount of N-power project funds. It is alleged that the singer colluded with some government officials to introduce ghost beneficiaries into the N-power payroll scheme and the stipends paid to those beneficiaries were traced and allegedly paid directly into bank accounts connected to D’banj.

The Federal Government has revealed that foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Financial Technology (FinTech) platforms, and Point of Sale (POS) operators have links to terrorism financing (TF) in the country. This was contained in a report titled ‘2022 National Inherent Risk Assessment of Terrorism Financing’ which assessed the country’s exposure to terrorism financing.

The Federal Government (FG) announced it has recovered looted funds to the tune of about $1 billion dollars since the commencement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in May 2015 till date. The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) & Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami made this known to State House Correspondents on Wednesday, shortly after the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja.

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Friday arrested 18 suspected Internet fraudsters, commonly called Yahoo Boys, in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. The anti-graft agency said the arrests followed a sting operation it carried out. The arrested persons are: Adeleye Ayodeji, Muhammed Ayub, Odelade Samuel, Sodiq Olanrewaju, Ola Francis, Adeniyi Damilare, Olalekan Samad, Tunde Ayodele, Zubair Buhari and Oladosu Naheem.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, has said the number of governors being monitored by the agency for possible money laundering arising from the redesign of the naira is rising. He spoke to correspondents yesterday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja. The EFCC had previously revealed that three governors were being watched on the suspicion that they might attempt to launder stashed cash in their possession which they might not be able to lodge in the bank before the deadline by the Central Bank of Nigeria to return old notes for redesign.

The traditional ruler of Obudi Agwa community in Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, Eze Ignitus Asor, has been killed by gunmen, on Monday. Five other persons were reportedly killed when some armed youths stormed the palace of the traditional ruler where a dispute between locals was being arbitrated and opened fire on him. The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mike Abattam, while confirming the incident to newsmen in Owerri, said the hoodlums drove to the palace of the monarch and pretended to be persons in distress that needed help. It was when the monarch welcomed them into his palace that they, in the process, pulled out their guns and shot at the traditional ruler and two others.
