The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Paul Odama, on Friday, paraded a medical doctor, Ayodele Joseph, for allegedly sedating and raping a nurse on May 5, 2023. Joseph was reportedly performing an operation on the nurse in his hospital in Ilorin, Kwara State, when the u fortunate incident happened. The medical doctor was paraded alongside 13 other suspected criminals in what seems to be another wave of arrests of suspected criminals in the state within two months under the watch of CP Odama.

A woman, 25-year-old identified as Rahma Sulaiman is currently cooling off at the Kano police custody for allegedly faking the kidnap of her own six years old daughter, Hafsat Kabiru and demanding N3 million ransom from her ex-husband, Kabiru Shehu. The woman allegedly took the daughter to a nearby relative in Madobi to keep for her and that she would travel for four days. Speaking while parading the suspect and other criminals at the Kano Police Command’s headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Usaini Gumel, said they received a report from the husband, Kabiru Shehu, that his daughter had been kidnapped.

A former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, has been arrested and detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in connection with an alleged N22bn fraud. EFCC sources familiar with the matter said Mamman, who was a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari from 2019 to 2021, was arrested and detained at the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday after he appeared for questioning. The sources said the former minister allegedly conspired with officials of the Ministry of Power during his stint as minister and diverted N22 billion and shared it among themselves.

Three out of the seven remaining school girls earlier abducted from the Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Kebbi State by bandits have regained their freedom. Those released are Elizabeth Ogechi Nwafor, Esther Sunday and Aliya Abubakar. The chairman of parents of the Abducted School Girls’ Forum, Malam Salim Kaoje revealed to press that the newly released girls arrived Kebbi on Monday afternoon. “Yes they released three of the school girls to us on Sunday evening. They are already with the State Government”, Kaoje said.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the eight-year sentence imposed on Abdulrasheed Maina, a former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team over money laundering charges to the tune of about N2.1 billion. The ruling was delivered on Friday by a three-member panel unanimously affirming the judgment of Justice Okon Abang convicting and sentencing Maina on November 8, 2021.

 The International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has summoned Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa State, over his alleged misconduct during the state’s April 14 supplementary elections. According to a report, it revealed that the Interpol letter, dated April 27, 2023, instructed Mr Yunusa Ari to appear for interrogation at the National Central Bureau in Abuja.
