Police in Imo says they have arrested a man who allegedly confessed to being a financier of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB). The Imo police spokesman CSP Mike Abattam in a statement disclosed that the 57 year old suspect, Boniface Okeke, is believed to have contributed N10 million in funding to IPOB. He was arrested in Obor autonomous community of Orlu LGA in connection with terrorism and attacks on security agencies and civilians.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has questioned former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, regarding alleged money laundering and misappropriation of public funds charges. Saraki was said to have arrived at the anti-corruption agency’s office at 2 pm on Saturday and was questioned for hours. The former Senate president was however not detained overnight by the EFCC.

The British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson has agreed that judicial process should be followed regarding those arrested for various forms of terrorism in Nigeria. This is one of the agreements reached after President Buhari and Prime Minister Boris Johnson, met on the sidelines of the ongoing Global Education Summit in London, United Kingdom.

Cour De’Appel De Cotonou has on Monday declined the extradition of the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho to Nigeria and ordered that he remains in police custody pending further investigation. However, the court granted Igboho access to medical care, after his lawyers failed to secure bail for the activist.

As against the order of the Federal High Court, the Federal Government could not parade Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in court for his continued trial, making the court adjoin trial until October 21st, 2021.

Heavy security arrangement was observed on Monday morning at the Federal High Court, Abuja, where the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, will resume. The security convoy that brought Kanu into the court premises arrived at about 8 am for his appearance before Justice Binta Nyako.
