A Federal High Court, Abuja presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo has scheduled December 12, 2023, to rule on the admissibility of 6 different statements allegedly implicating a former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Adoke (SAN), in the alleged $1.1 billion Malabu Oil Fraud. Justice Ekwo fixed the date on Wednesday, following arguments brought forward by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) who stood in for Adoke and Mr. Ofem Uket, who represented the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Abidemi Rufai, the suspended aide of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment by a District Court in Western Tacoma, Washington, the United States for wire fraud and identity theft. According to a statement issued by the United States Attorney, Western District of Washington, Nick Brown, the ex-aide stole information of around 20,000 Americans to conduct various cyber fraud.

President Muhammadu Buhari commended the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd) on the Agency’s recent seizure of 1,855 kilograms of cocaine estimated to be worth $278 million. The President commended Marwa via a phone call from New York where President Buhari is attending the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 77).

Fifteen suspected trafficked children have been rescued by operatives of the Rivers State Police Command from the residence of one Maureen Wechinwu, who claimed to be a Reverend Sister, in Aluu Community, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the State. She was paraded alongside 20 other suspects arrested in the state within August and September for various crimes. During the parade of suspects by the State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, it was revealed that the rescued children were aged between seven and nine years. According to the CP, preliminary investigations have revealed that the children were kidnapped from different parts of the South-South states and were being sold out to people. He said it took over 24 hours before the children were able to tell their experiences to the police, adding that they were being tortured and maybe hypnotized as well. “On September 3, 2022, ‘Operation Restore Peace’ personnel of the command, acting on credible information regarding hideout of child traffickers, stormed Omuigwe, Abuja Phase II, Aluu, in Ikwerre Local Government Area, where a lady who claimed to be a Rev. Sister, Maureen Wechinwu, aged 44 years, was arrested," the CP said.

Four families have been thrown into mourning after their newborn babies died due to alleged negligence on the part of the doctor on duty at the Sapele Central Hospital, in Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State. The victims’ families, while lamenting the deaths of their four babies alleged that the doctor on duty, who was supposed to attend to them turned out drunk. They added that there was no power supply within the hospital premises during the period. The grieving families further accused the management of the hospital stressing that their inefficiency led to the unfortunate incident, wherein they alleged that all the women who were due for delivery lost their babies.

Security Agencies in Ondo state are on the trail of bandits who reportedly kidnapped 32 persons while traveling in a coastal bus from Benin City, Edo State on Saturday evening. It was gathered that they were abducted between Benin-Ifon to Owo forest in Ondo State, after attending a burial ceremony.
