Following the demise of Miss Oluwabamise Ayanwola, a Lagos State Chief Court on 11th March 2022 has remanded a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver Nice Ominnikoron for thirty (30) days over his alleged involvement in the death of the aforementioned name after boarding his bus but was later found dead.

The police in Lagos state have arrested the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) where the 22-year-old, Bamise Ayanwole, went missing. The state police spokesman, Adekunle Ajisebutu, who revealed this in a statement on Monday, said “The driver of the BRT has been arrested. Details later.” The driver, identified as Nice Andrew Omininikoron, is already being questioned on what transpired before the fashion designer’s death. The deceased, got missing while returning to Ota from Ajah on Saturday, February 26 when she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 going to Oshodi about 7 pm. at Chevron Bus-Stop.

The suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari pleaded not guilty to drug trafficking charges filed against him by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

The Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) as of 3rd March 2022, has slammed an eight-count criminal charge against the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari and six other persons allegedly involved in the drug trafficking. The charges marked FHC/ABJ/CR/57/2022 are filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja and signed by Mr. Joseph Sunday, NDLEA Director, Prosecution and Legal Services.

The Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami has hinted at the possibility to extradite the erstwhile cop, DCP, Abba Kyari to the United States to face the allegation leveled against him. Kyari was indicted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over a fraud case of $1.1 million perpetrated by, Abass Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppy, and four others in the United Arabs Emirates.

A Federal High Court in Abuja on 28th February 2022 has declined to grant the bail application of suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police Abba Kyari. The application had been overtaken by events following an order of a sister court, granting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)'s prayers to detain Kyari for additional fourteen (14) days to allow it to conclude investigation on the drug saga as revealed by Justice Inyang Ekwo.
