Following the industrial action embarked upon by staff of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) on Thursday over the fear of the spread of COVID-19 in the agency, the workers have Friday suspended the strike action. The suspension of the strike was after the Federal Government agreed to address their demands. Asekokhai Lucky, the President of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, NIMC Unit confirmed the suspension, saying workers were already contacted to resume work on Monday, 11 January 2021.

Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari has revealed on Friday that security forces have freed 103 persons from the clutches of kidnappers in the state. According to the governor, the latest rescue was is in continuation of the exercise that started with the recovery of the 244 students of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara.

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced that the National Identification Number (NIN) holders would be required to pay a processing fee depending on the type of modifications required by NIN holders. This was disclosed on Wednesday by NIMC Regional Coordinator, Funmi Opesanwo in the commission’s office located in Alausa, Lagos State. Opesanwo said, “For the date of birth correction, there is a processing fee of N15,000. For card renewal or card replacement, the processing fee is N5,000. For the modification of name or address, it is N500. So, people misconstrue this to mean that in NIMC they are asking them to pay money. No, those are for services.”

The Department of State Services has cleared the air on purported recruitment that was making rounds in some media outlets warning the general public not to fall prey to job scammers hook as the service was not currently hiring.
