The Africa-Global Empowerment and Development Network (AGED-Network) announced that the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, Police and other security agencies would receive $1Bn from the government of Qatar to acquire modern equipment.

The kidnapped Chinese expatriate, working with the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company of Nigerian Ltd handling the construction of the new AdoIyin road, has been set free by his captors. The expatriate known as Wang, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in Ado-Ekiti on Friday evening was said to be released after the payment of N100m ransom.

A survivor amongst the victims of the recent attack which cost about 43 rice farmers lives in Zabarmari village in Borno, claimed they gave information to the Military on the impending attack but no action was taken. About 43 confirmed rice farmers were slaughtered on Saturday while harvesting their crop in Zabarmari, a suburb at the outskirt of Maiduguri town, Borno state, though the numbers of victims were under contention as the United Nation claimed it was 110 persons.
