President MuhammaduBuhari is currently meeting some representatives of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) and security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The meeting is in continuation of efforts aimed at tackling the deteriorating security situation in parts of the country. Those in attendance at the Council chamber for the meeting include Vice President YemiOsinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; and National Security Adviser, Major General BabaganaMonguno (retd). Others are service chiefs and heads of security agencies.

The Federal government directed via the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan on Monday 10th August 2020 civil servants on Grade Level 12 and 13 including other essential duties to resume duties on a full scale. The directive was contained in a circular dated August 10, 2020, signed by Dr Folasade, Titled "Resumption of officers on Grade Levels 12 and 13 and those on essential duties". 

The Nigerian Army has kicked against an allegation by the Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum that he was attacked by Army along his way to Baga, Borno state.
The Governor’s convoy came under heavy attack on Monday on his way to Baga to pay a visit to some internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the Kukawa Local Govt Area of the state.
Initially, the attack was believed to have been carried out by the Boko Haram element until the Governor made some allegation that there was sabotage by the Military, saying the attack came from soldiers.

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently in a meeting with the national security council, probably to discuss matters bordering on the worsening security situation in the country. The meeting, which has in attendance the Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, is being held at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Lagos State Government has on Friday closed down the COVID-19 Isolation Centre in Eti-Osa, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said. The Governor made the announcement during a briefing on the management of the pandemic in the state at Lagos House Marina, adding that the isolation centre in Agidingbi would also be shut down and patients are to be relocated to a soon to be inaugurated centre with larger capacity in Anthony area.

The Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency, Professor Babagana Zulum on Wednesday escaped an ambush by gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram members. An aide to the Governor who confirmed the development noted that the Governor was attacked while on transit from Baga where he had distributed food items and other palliatives to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). The aide emphasised that the Governor was unhurt after the ambush.
