President Muhammadu Buhari is currently chairing the quarterly meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) at the statehouse, Abuja.

The leadership of the House of Representatives of the country is having a closed-door meeting with the heads of security agencies. The Deputy Speaker, of the house Ahmed Wase, presided over the meeting, which began about 2:15 pm.

Sixteen #EndSARS campaigners, who participated in the protests have petitioned a Federal High Court in Abuja to reverse the restriction placed on their accounts by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The CBN earlier on received approval from the Federal High Court in Abuja to freeze the accounts of about 19 individuals and a public affairs company linked to the #EndSARS protests till January. 16 of the affected persons filed a motion on Thursday through their lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), to set aside the order and unfreeze their accounts. In a supporting affidavit, the apex bank had also alleged that the #EndSARS campaigners may have received their funding through acts of terrorism and asked the judge to swiftly freeze the accounts.

Officers of the Nigerian Army, led by the Commander of 81 Military Intelligence Brigade, Victory Island, Lagos, Brig. Gen Ahmed Taiwo is currently at the Lagos Court of Arbitration, venue of the probe into the alleged shooting of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers on the night of October 20, at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos. Following a summon by the retired Justice Doris Okuwobi-led Judicial Panel of Inquiry, the Army had submitted the names of three Lieutenant Generals and a Lieutenant Colonel, who will testify before the panel.

The Government of Canada through its high commission in Nigeria say they do not grant asylum seekers application directly from individual but only through a second or third party individuals. This followed the rumor making round that Canada has granted asylum to, Dj Switch, an EndSARS Protest leader who was responsible for circulating fake video of purported Lekki killing by the Nigerian Army.

A wide spectrum of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the northeast especially from Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe state have thrown their weight behind, Ali Ndume, Senator representing Southern Borno District, for saying deradicalization of Boko Haram was premature as the war has not been won.
