The Minister of Defence, Maj Gen Bashir Salihi Magashi has said that the United States Army got necessary permission from the Nigerian government to conduct the rescue operation with lead to the liberation of its citizen held captive in northern Nigeria. Magashi in an interview shortly after defending his Ministry’s budget at the National Assembly on Tuesday, told journalists that Nigeria gave permission to the US “as a friendly country” almost as soon as it was contacted by the government. The minister said the country was doing the best it could with the available resources at the disposal of the military to deploy adequate technology in its operations. He however said that Nigeria would explore the current partnership with the United states tackle insurgency in the country.

The Chairman, Nigeria in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has revealed that seven Nigerians who took part in the #EndSARS Protest in Egypt have been scheduled for deportation.

Following the wake of the #EndSARS protest that claimed about 22 lives of policemen across the country, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has frowned at some policemen for their failure to return back to their various duty posts. The commission said the police service rules have prescribed a dismissal to any officer or men of the Nigerian Police Force who deserts his duty post for a stipulated number of days, while advising them that being a religion practicing individuals they should take the demise of their colleagues in good faith and return back to their duty posts. Although the PSC noted that no policeman deserves to be killed in his line of duty, not just as an officer but as a fellow human being, however, the deed has been done by the hoodlums and they should just face the reality and return back to work.

A pastor serving at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, Plateau state, has regained his freedom after spending 12days in the Boko Haram captivity. Pastor Rev. Polycarp Zango, was kidnapped by the terrorist on 19 October while on his way for an official assignment of Ministers Conference that took place in Gombe state. Vanguard reported that the terrorist group released a video last week with the pastor begging for mercy in their den.

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has applauded the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for sanctioning three media houses station for spreading unverified news items over the EndSARS protest. This was contained in a statement by, Niyi Akinsiju, Secretary of the group, and Cassidy Madueke, saying the said media houses violated the extant rules guiding broadcasting practice.

The Edo Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, paraded the 126 suspected criminals, including the 10 escapees, arsonists and looters of COVID-19 palliatives at the state’s police headquarters in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin on Wednesday. Ten of the 1,993 inmates of Oko Correctional Centre on Airport Road, Benin and the Benin Correctional Centre on Sapele Road, who escaped immediately returned to crime and were re-arrested by the police.
