Following the wake of the #EndSARS protest that claimed about 22 lives of policemen across the country, the Police Service Commission (PSC) has frowned at some policemen for their failure to return back to their various duty posts. The commission said the police service rules have prescribed a dismissal to any officer or men of the Nigerian Police Force who deserts his duty post for a stipulated number of days, while advising them that being a religion practicing individuals they should take the demise of their colleagues in good faith and return back to their duty posts. Although the PSC noted that no policeman deserves to be killed in his line of duty, not just as an officer but as a fellow human being, however, the deed has been done by the hoodlums and they should just face the reality and return back to work.

A pastor serving at the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Jos, Plateau state, has regained his freedom after spending 12days in the Boko Haram captivity. Pastor Rev. Polycarp Zango, was kidnapped by the terrorist on 19 October while on his way for an official assignment of Ministers Conference that took place in Gombe state. Vanguard reported that the terrorist group released a video last week with the pastor begging for mercy in their den.

The Buhari Media Organisation (BMO) has applauded the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) for sanctioning three media houses station for spreading unverified news items over the EndSARS protest. This was contained in a statement by, Niyi Akinsiju, Secretary of the group, and Cassidy Madueke, saying the said media houses violated the extant rules guiding broadcasting practice.

The Police in Edo state announced that it has rearrested at least, ten of the 1,993 inmates, who escaped from the Oko Correctional Centre on Airport Road, Benin and the Benin Correctional Centre on Sapele Road on October 19. The Edo Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo, paraded the 126 suspected criminals, including the 10 escapees, arsonists and looters of COVID-19 palliatives at the state’s police headquarters in Government Reservation Area (GRA), Benin on Wednesday. Ten of the 1,993 inmates of Oko Correctional Centre on Airport Road, Benin and the Benin Correctional Centre on Sapele Road, who escaped immediately returned to crime and were re-arrested by the police. The Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) mentioned on Tuesday that 43 hoodlums, who invaded its Abuja camp, had been arrested by security operatives composed of officers of the Nigeria Police Force and soldiers, and some of the stolen items recovered. The DG NYSC, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, while speaking at the NYSC camp, Kubwa Abuja said the hoodlums came in at 7 a.m. and burgled the store where the FCT administration kept palliatives for COVID-19 victims but found the store empty as everything was distributed since July. Some of the items that were carted away included mattresses, stationeries, boots, and uniforms of potential corps members.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has warned that with the level of misuse of the social media that has made fake news order of the day, Nigeria is sitting on a time bomb. The Minister made the statement yesterday when he appeared to defend his 2021 budget before the House of Representative Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values. Mohammed said, “We are sitting on a time bomb on this issue of fake news. Unfortunately, we have no national policy on social media and we need one.
