Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alliviation, Betta Edu says president Tinubu in his effort to fulfil campaign promises has directed her Ministry to reserve 10 percent of social safety net intervention to senior citizens. Edu made this known yesterday in Abuja through a statement from her media spokesperson, Rasheed Zubair.

The House of Representatives members has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, and his sister security agencies to secure the safe release of the seven kidnapped National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members kidnapped in Zamfara state by terrorist bandits. This followed the adoption of a motion moved by Unyime Idem (PDP, Akwa Ibom) and eight others at the Plenary on Tuesday, saying the corps members have been left to their faith and only god knows the hell they are passing through. 

A boat carrying over 30 passengers on board from Kasabu village in Agwara local government area of Niger to Yauri in Kebbi has capsized. More than 22 of the passengers have been declared missing. Alhaji Salihu Garba, overseeing Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Minna on Monday. Confirming the ugly development to the Voice of America through telephone, the Chairman of Yauri LGA, Bala Yauri, disclosed that the incident has left the people of the local government in deep sorrow.

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has today warned school principals against mobilising school children from the southeast for the Nigerian independence Day celebration. Spokesperson for the proscribed terrorist group, Emma Powerful, gave the warning today that whoever mobilises students for the celebration during the 1st October should have themselves to be blame.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the purchase of 12 attack helicopters for the Nigerian Army (NA). The COAS made this disclosure on Tuesday during the opening of the maiden Nigerian Army Aviation Seminar, adding that the 12 MD 530F Cayuse attack helicopters would improve the operations of the Nigerian Army aviation unit as has already been done in countries like the United States, Pakistan, Egypt and others.
