The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has unveiled a new uniform that will be added to its array of outfits which is expected to be worn by officers commencing from Tuesday 12th of April 2022. The uniform was unveiled on Friday by the minister of interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola during an event. The Minister during the presentation stated that the uniform will be added to the current collection and would be worn every Tuesday.
The uniform, a white shirt with a red collar, and navy blue trousers were adorned by several officers of the corp, including Ahmed Audi, the NSCDC commandant-general (CG). He stated that the uniform was to boost professionalism, character and to improve the Corps' commitment to defending the defenceless.
The CG added that the white shirt depicts peace and that the new outfit will distinguish them from other security agencies. He continued by stating that the new uniform is to be identified as “Officers Wear number 5C”.
Audi further explained the various colours the corp adorns, especially the berets. He disclosed that the black is used for general duty, the white for the provost unit in charge of instilling discipline, the light blue for the female squad, and the red beret is for medical personnel of the corps.
