The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has denied issuing a directive to halt gas supply to power Generating Companies (GenCos) due to unpaid debts of over N2 trillion owed to gas producers which was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency in reaction to several media reports.

Retired Members of the Nigerian Armed Forces, under the auspices of the Coalition of Military Pensioners in Abuja have shut down the Federal Ministry of Finance on Thursday, over non-payment of their 20% to 28% salary increment from January to November 2024.

Pensioners under the Contributory Pension Scheme have directed members to occupy the Ministry of Finance on Dec 16th following unpaid accrued gratuities owed pensioners from March 2023 to November 2024. The pensioners, who had earlier staged a peaceful rally at the Ministry of Finance in November, wrote to the coordinating Minister of Finance and National Economy, Wale Edun, on the need for the government to release the entitlements.
