A two-week extension for the ongoing recruitment of 50,000 police constables has been announced by the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Police Service Commission (PSC). As a result, the application portal's December 15, 2025, opening date has been extended to February 8, 2026. According to a statement from PSC spokesperson Torty Njoku Kalu, the commission decided to grant the extension after receiving more than 400,000 applications and a study that revealed notable differences in state participation.
According to him, "While some states like Adamawa, Benue, and Kaduna have high application numbers, states such as Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, and Anambra have notably lower submissions."
He clarified that the extension was intended to guarantee fair representation across the country and urged all eligible Nigerians to apply through the official website, www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, especially those from states that are of concern and have fewer applications.
Additionally, PSC called on state governments, local government councils, religious organisations, sociocultural organisations, community leaders, and other stakeholders to encourage and raise awareness among eligible residents of their jurisdictions to apply prior to the revised deadline.
The PSC and the NPF emphasised that every eligible Nigerian would have an equal chance to serve in the Nigeria Police Force and reiterated their commitment to a fair, open, and inclusive recruiting process.
