Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja on Sunday to represent Nigeria at the 2025 annual World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland. According to a statement by his Media Assistant, Stanley Nkwocha, the Vice President will join global leaders, top business executives, and development partners to discuss the state of the world economy and explore ways to improve it.

During his time in Davos, Shettima will hold bilateral meetings with other leaders and participate in various workshops and forums. One key event on his schedule is a workshop titled “Roadmap to Co-create Investment Opportunities for Africa’s Frontier Markets,” organized by the African Development Bank in partnership with the World Economic Forum. This workshop aims to boost investment in Africa’s frontier markets and promote sustainable, inclusive growth on the continent. It will take place at the Congress Centre in Jakobshorn.

A major highlight will be the announcement of the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa, a collaborative effort with the African Development Bank. The initiative seeks to strengthen partnerships between public and private sector leaders to mobilize investment in Africa's frontier markets.

Shettima will also attend a dinner for heads of state, government officials, international organizations, and the 2025 Crystal Awardees at Kurpark Village, Eiger. Additionally, he will co-chair a forum on “Turning Digital Trade into a Catalyst for Growth in Africa” at the Pischa Congress Centre, focusing on the role of the private sector in implementing the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol adopted in January 2024.

He will also be a panelist in a session titled “Global Risks 2025,” which will address the rising geopolitical, technological, and environmental challenges highlighted in the Global Risks Report. This event will take place at the Aspen 2 Congress Centre in Davos.

Accompanied by key officials, including the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, and the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC), Aisha Rimi, the Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.
