On Monday, President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye. Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the presidential spokesperson, made this announcement on Sunday in Abuja. The purpose of the visit is to explore collaboration in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation while also enhancing friendly relations between Nigeria and Turkiye. From October 19 to October 20, 2021, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited Nigeria on official business.
Both nations will have strategic political and diplomatic talks on common interests in trade, investment, finance, and communications during Tinubu's visit. High-ranking officials from both countries will meet as part of the program, and memoranda of understanding in important areas will be signed.
Scientific research, energy, technical collaboration, media and communications, military cooperation, and protocol will all be covered by the MoUs. Additionally, a business roundtable between Nigerian and Turkish investors will be organised to discuss potential opportunities.
The President's entourage consists of Attorney General Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Amb. Yusuf Tuggar. Others include Hon. Jimi Benson, Chairman of the House Committee on Defence; Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior; and retired Gen. Christopher Musa (rtd), Minister of Defence.
Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim, Minister of Women Affairs; Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Culture and Creative Economy; and Malam Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Advisor, are also there. The team also includes Amb. Mohammed Mohammed, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.
After the visit, Tinubu is anticipated to return to the nation.
