The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has yesterday reported that Nigeria has recorded a fresh 35 cases of coronavirus from six states of the federation.
There have been high hopes in the country after the health agency reported zero fatality in the last 12 days; however, one person was reported to have lost the battle yesterday pushing the death toll to 2,062 in the country.
The Health agency made the disclosure yesterday night through its official handle.
Nigeria had since the commencement of the vaccine for the deadly virus last month, the country has been recording a low report of the COVID-19 infection on daily basis.
The fresh case of 35 persons reported yesterday has pushed the total record of infection in the country to 164,719 since the record of the index case.
According to the health agency, the 35 new cases were reported in six states of Lagos-18, Rivers-7, Oyo-6, FCT-2, while Ekiti and Kaduna state reported one case each.
Considering the data from the health agency, about 239 persons were discharged yesterday after testing negative for the deadly virus, pushing the number of discharged persons to 154,926 after treatment, while 9,793 are still active cases under treatment.
NCDC revealed that since the recording of the index case in the country in February 2020, Nigeria has tested 1,870,926 million persons.
Another record from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) indicated that about 1,171,515 persons have been vaccinated against the pandemic with the first batch of AstraZeneca vaccine doses received in Nigeria.
